About Pre-Model K22: The Pre-Model K22 refers to K Frame .22 LR revolvers manufactured before 1957 when Smith & Wesson began using model numbers. These early revolvers featured a 4-screw sideplate design (later changed to 5-screw). The K22 later became the Model 17 when model numbering was introduced.

Compatibility Note: The rebound slide assembly is interchangeable across all K Frame models, both rimfire and centerfire, including pre-model and numbered models. This part will fit Pre-Model K22, Models 10, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 48, 64, 65, 66, 67, 617, and 648. The "old style" and "4-screw" designations refer to earlier production variants.

Function: The rebound slide controls the trigger return mechanism and ensures proper hammer positioning. It's essential for smooth double-action trigger pull and reliable hammer function. A worn or damaged rebound slide can cause trigger issues and hammer malfunctions.

Installation: Professional gunsmith installation required. The rebound slide is an internal fire control component that requires complete disassembly of the revolver. Proper fitting, timing, and function testing are essential for safe operation.

How to Identify Your Smith & Wesson Model: Swing out the cylinder and check behind the yoke on the frame for the model number. Model numbers began in 1957-58. If there is no model number, your revolver is a pre-model variant. Contact us with your serial number if you need assistance identifying your revolver.
