This is the pre-MIM old style cylinder stop, compatible with Model 66 variants 66-3 and earlier. The cylinder stop is a critical lockwork component that aligns the cylinder with the barrel at the moment of firing — a worn or broken stop results in misalignment and unreliable ignition.
