Model Dash Caliber Notes
Model 10 10-7 .38 Special Old style main spring; verify dash number before ordering

This main spring is specific to the Model 10-7 dash variant. Spring dimensions and coil count can vary between dash numbers and production runs. Verify your revolver’s dash number (stamped on the frame under the cylinder crane) before ordering.

Function

The main spring (hammer spring) is compressed when the hammer is cocked and releases its stored energy to drive the hammer forward when the trigger is pulled. Proper spring tension is critical for reliable primer ignition — a worn or weakened spring causes light primer strikes and misfires. Spring tension is regulated by the strain screw at the base of the grip frame.

Installation Note

Installation requires removal of grip panels and sideplate. Spring tension is adjusted via the strain screw. Gunsmith installation recommended to verify proper trigger pull weight and reliable ignition after replacement.
