Genuine used Smith & Wesson J Frame side plate for the pre-model 31 .32 Regulation Police (also known as the .32 Hand Ejector). This is a 5-screw side plate — indicating very early J Frame production, prior to approximately 1952 when S&W eliminated the front strap screw and transitioned to a 4-screw configuration. A 5-screw J Frame side plate is a rare find for collectors and restorers of early pre-model .32 S&W Long revolvers.

This is a serialized, one-of-a-kind used part. The side plate covers and retains the action components on the left side of the J Frame. Side plates are frame-specific — they must seat flush with the frame contour. Best used as a replacement on the same revolver or a closely matched pre-model J Frame of the same production era. Gunsmith fitting may be required.

The Model 31 (.32 Regulation Police) was S&W’s compact J Frame revolver chambered in .32 S&W Long — one of the few J Frame revolvers not chambered in .38 Special or .22 LR. It was a popular choice for plainclothes law enforcement and civilian carry due to its slim profile and mild recoil. Pre-model versions (pre-1957) carried no model number stamped on the frame.
