Smith & Wesson N Frame Model 57 Strain Screw Square Butt Blue Steel .41 Magnum Used - Part #57173
Smith & Wesson N Frame Model 57 Strain Screw – Square Butt, Blue Steel (Old Style, Used)
Fine-tune your Model 57’s trigger pull with this genuine Smith & Wesson factory strain screw. The strain screw threads into the grip frame and controls the tension on the mainspring — adjusting it is one of the most common and effective ways to lighten the double-action trigger pull on S&W revolvers without replacing internal parts. This is the correct square butt version for the Model 57.
Blue steel finish, old-style configuration. Sourced from a used firearm and inspected for condition.

The strain screw is accessible from the bottom of the grip frame after grip removal. Adjustment should be done carefully — backing the screw out too far can cause light primer strikes. A qualified gunsmith is recommended if you are unfamiliar with the adjustment process.
How to Identify Your S&W Model Number
Swing out the cylinder and check behind the yoke on the frame. Model numbers were introduced in 1957–58. If no model number is present, your revolver may pre-date that era — contact us with your serial number and we can help identify the correct part.
