The strain screw threads into the bottom of the grip frame on the Smith & Wesson Governor revolver to secure the mainspring (hammer spring) in place. It also allows for trigger pull adjustment — turning the screw in or out changes tension on the mainspring, affecting trigger pull weight and hammer strike force. Proper adjustment ensures reliable ignition across all three supported calibers. This genuine OEM factory part has been inspected and is in good working condition.

Note: Professional gunsmith installation recommended. Access through the bottom of the grip frame after removing grips. Too loose may cause light primer strikes; too tight may cause excessive trigger pull weight.
