Smith & Wesson L Frame Model 686 Hand

Part# 6868 | .357 Magnum | Stainless Steel | Old Style Used Part

The hand (also called the pawl or ratchet pawl) is the small lever that rotates the cylinder one position with each trigger pull or hammer cock. It engages the ratchet on the back of the cylinder star and is critical to proper cylinder indexing and timing. A worn or damaged hand causes the cylinder to under-rotate or over-rotate, resulting in misalignment with the barrel — a serious safety and function issue. This is a genuine S&W factory old-style stainless steel hand pulled from a Model 686 and ready to restore correct timing.
