The strain screw threads into the bottom of the grip frame to secure the mainspring (hammer spring) in place on the Smith & Wesson K Frame Model 10 revolver. It also allows for trigger pull adjustment — turning the screw in or out changes tension on the mainspring, affecting trigger pull weight and hammer strike force. Installation tip: Access through the bottom of the grip frame after removing grips. Too loose may cause light primer strikes; too tight may cause excessive trigger pull weight.
