Smith & Wesson J Frame Model 43 Airweight Hand (Pawl)

Part# 129-43-J | .22 LR (Rimfire) | Used Part

The hand (also called the pawl or ratchet pawl) is the small lever that rotates the cylinder one position with each trigger pull or hammer cock. It engages the ratchet star on the back of the cylinder and is critical to proper cylinder indexing and timing. A worn or damaged hand causes the cylinder to under-rotate or over-rotate, resulting in misalignment between the chamber and barrel — a serious safety and function issue. This is a genuine S&W factory used hand pulled from a Model 43 Airweight and ready to restore correct cylinder timing.

Installation

Disassembly and reassembly are required to replace this part. Timing verification and fitting by a qualified gunsmith is strongly recommended, as an improperly fitted hand can affect cylinder timing and safe operation.
