Function
The bolt, also called the cylinder stop, rises to engage notches in the cylinder and lock it in alignment with the barrel at the moment of firing. A worn or damaged bolt can cause cylinder timing problems, which is why fitting matters.
How to Identify Your S&W Model
Swing out the cylinder and check behind the yoke on the frame for the stamped model number. Model numbers began in 1957-58, so a revolver with no model number may be older. Contact us with your serial number if you need help confirming fitment.
