Compatibility

Fits Smith & Wesson Model 586 L Frame revolvers chambered in .357 Magnum.

Production Years: Model 586 introduced in 1980 as part of the new L Frame series, still in production. The L Frame was designed specifically to handle heavy .357 Magnum loads that were too punishing for the lighter K Frame.

Compatible Models: Model 586, 586-1 through 586-8 (Distinguished Combat Magnum)

Caliber: .357 Magnum (also fires .38 Special)

Historical Note: The Model 586 is the blue steel version of the L Frame .357 Magnum (the stainless version is the Model 686). It was designed to provide a stronger, more durable platform for heavy magnum loads compared to the K Frame Model 19/66.
