Smith & Wesson Pre-Model 4 & 5 Screw Cylinder Stop Plunger Screw Nickel NOS - V15B1
Smith & Wesson Pre-Model Cylinder Stop Plunger Screw — 4 & 5 Screw, Nickel, New Old Stock
Part #V15B1 | New Old Stock (NOS) | 4 & 5 Screw Pre-Model Revolvers | Nickel Plated | K & N Frame
Genuine Smith & Wesson factory nickel-plated cylinder stop plunger screw for 4-screw and 5-screw pre-model revolvers. New Old Stock (NOS): factory new unused parts from original S&W production runs — not current production, not used. NOS parts for pre-model revolvers are increasingly scarce; this is a genuine factory original fastener.
The cylinder stop plunger screw secures the cylinder stop plunger and spring assembly in the frame. The cylinder stop plunger engages the cylinder stop (bolt) to lock the cylinder in alignment with the barrel during firing. A missing, stripped, or damaged plunger screw allows the plunger and spring to back out under recoil, causing the cylinder stop to lose proper tension and the cylinder to rotate out of alignment.
Pre-model S&W revolvers used 5-screw side plate configuration (four side plate screws plus a front strap screw) in earlier production; the front strap screw was eliminated in the early 1950s, transitioning to a 4-screw configuration. This screw fits both configurations as the cylinder stop plunger screw location is unchanged.
