Genuine factory new Smith & Wesson magazine release assembly for 1st and 2nd Generation Model 39 series pistols. This is a complete assembly — includes the magazine release button, spring, and associated hardware rather than just the button body alone. The magazine release retains the magazine in the grip and ejects it when the button is pressed. A worn or broken magazine release causes either unintentional magazine drop (magazine falls free under recoil or handling) or failure to eject (magazine sticks in the grip when the button is pressed).
