This is a factory original Smith & Wesson ejector and magazine depressor for Second and Third Generation semi-automatic pistols. The ejector strips the spent case from the chamber during the slide's rearward travel, while the magazine depressor assists in magazine insertion and seating. A worn or damaged ejector can cause failures to eject (stovepipes) and erratic case ejection patterns.
