Smith & Wesson Model 686 Cylinder Stop & Spring – Part# 6865

This is a genuine factory Smith & Wesson cylinder stop and spring set for the L Frame Model 686 revolver. An old-style used part in serviceable condition — a cost-effective solution for restoring proper cylinder lockup on your 686.

The cylinder stop (also called the cylinder bolt) is the component that locks the cylinder in alignment with the barrel at the moment of firing. A worn or broken cylinder stop results in poor lockup, cylinder wobble, and potential accuracy or safety issues. Includes the cylinder stop spring.

Model numbers are stamped on the frame behind the yoke when the cylinder is swung out. Pre-1957 revolvers may not have a model number — contact us with your serial number for assistance.

Installation

Cylinder stop replacement requires disassembly of the side plate and lock work. Proper cylinder timing must be verified after installation — we recommend having this part fitted and installed by a qualified gunsmith to ensure safe, reliable lockup.
