Model Compatibility

Application Compatibility Required Checks
Smith & Wesson Model 60, .38 Special Confirmed donor-model and caliber identification; exact dash revision not recorded Confirm 1-7/8-inch length, stainless construction and non-pinned frame configuration
Earlier pinned Model 60 variants Not assumed compatible Barrel retention and frame geometry differ; do not substitute by model number alone
Later .357 Magnum Model 60 variants Not claimed compatible Different frame and barrel engineering revisions may apply even though bore diameter is similar
Other non-pinned J Frame .38 Special revolvers Not established Verify threads, shank length, shoulder position, ejector clearance, forcing-cone dimensions and sight orientation

Compatibility warning: Non-pinned appearance, frame family and caliber do not establish direct fit. Match the original barrel and revolver dash revision before purchase.

Installation and Safety

A revolver barrel is not a drop-in part. Installation requires a qualified gunsmith with proper frame and barrel tooling. The gunsmith must verify thread and shoulder fit, barrel alignment, ejector clearance, forcing-cone condition, barrel-cylinder gap, headspace, timing and chamber-to-bore alignment before firing. Used parts may show normal finish wear and handling marks; the photographed item represents the part and condition offered.
