Factory Smith & Wesson used old-style long bolt assembly for the N Frame Model 57 revolver chambered in .41 Magnum. The bolt (cylinder stop) locks the cylinder in alignment with the barrel at each chamber position. This is the older long-bolt design used on pre-engineering-change Model 57 revolvers — not compatible with later dash variants that use the updated shorter bolt. Verify your dash number before ordering. Gunsmith installation recommended.
