Model Caliber Finish Barrel Length Notes
Model 66 .357 Magnum / .38 Special Stainless 3", 4", 6" Non-recessed, old style; verify dash number compatibility

Important: This cylinder is specific to old style K Frame Model 66 revolvers with 3-inch or longer barrels. It is not compatible with 2.5-inch snub-nose variants or newer production Model 66 revolvers (post-2014 Classic reintroduction). Cylinders are caliber-specific and frame-specific — not interchangeable with J, L, or N Frame models. Verify your revolver’s dash number before ordering. See our Model 66 extractor compatibility notes: older style (66, 66-1, 66-2, 66-3) vs. newer style (66-4 and later) extractors are not interchangeable.

Function

The cylinder and yoke assembly is the rotating chamber unit that holds and aligns cartridges with the barrel for firing. The yoke (crane) allows the cylinder to swing out of the frame for loading and unloading. A damaged or out-of-spec cylinder can cause timing failures, cylinder gap issues, and unsafe conditions.

Installation Note

Professional gunsmith installation required. Cylinder replacement involves timing verification, cylinder gap measurement, and endshake adjustment. Do not attempt without proper tools and training.
