Product Details

Genuine Smith & Wesson factory bolt assembly, also called the cylinder stop, removed from a K Frame Model 65 revolver and cleaned and inspected. This is the timing component that locks the cylinder in alignment with the barrel for each shot.

Function

The bolt is spring-loaded and rises through the bottom of the frame to engage notches in the cylinder, locking it in alignment with the barrel. It works with the hand: as the hand rotates the cylinder the bolt drops, then rises again at lockup. A worn or poorly fitted bolt can cause accuracy problems, cylinder binding, or unsafe timing.

About the Model 65

Introduced in 1972, the Model 65 is the stainless steel version of the Model 13, with a heavy barrel and fixed sights, chambered in .357 Magnum and also firing .38 Special. It was widely used as a police duty revolver and needs less maintenance than blued steel.

How to Identify Your S&W Model

Swing out the cylinder and check behind the yoke on the frame for the stamped model number. You should see "65" or a dash variant such as "65-1" or "65-2". Model numbers began in 1957-58. Contact us with your serial number if you need help.

Used OEM bolt assembly removed from a functioning Model 65. Professionally cleaned and inspected, engagement surfaces checked for excessive wear or damage, spring tension good. The stainless finish may show minor wear typical of service revolvers.
