Compatibility

This hammer is designed specifically for the Smith & Wesson K Frame Model 12 Airweight revolver chambered in .38 Special. It is a centerfire hammer and is not compatible with rimfire K Frame models (17, 18, 48, 617, 648, K22).

Installation

Disassembly and reassembly of the revolver is required to replace this part. Installation by a qualified gunsmith is strongly recommended. Factory replacement parts are manufactured to the exact same specifications, tolerances, and materials as the original.

Finding Your Model Number

Swing out the cylinder and check behind the yoke on the frame for the model number. Model numbers began in 1957–58. If your revolver has no model number, it may pre-date 1957. In that case, contact us with your serial number and we can help identify the correct part.
