Model Caliber Finish Notes
Model 10 .38 Special Blue Steel Blued finish only; verify dash number before ordering

Important: This sideplate has a blue steel finish and is intended for blued K Frame Model 10 revolvers. It is not a finish match for nickel-plated or stainless revolvers. Sideplate fit can vary between production runs and dash numbers — verify your revolver’s dash number before ordering. Also see Part #K10158A for the nickel finish variant. Gunsmith fitting recommended.

Function

The sideplate is the removable panel on the left side of the frame that encloses the internal action components (hammer, trigger, rebound slide, hand, and springs). It must be removed to access the lock work for cleaning, inspection, or part replacement. A properly fitted sideplate sits flush with the frame with no gaps or rocking.

Installation Note

Professional gunsmith installation required. Sideplate removal and reinstallation requires proper technique to avoid damaging the frame or internal components. Never pry the sideplate — use a rubber mallet to tap the grip frame to loosen it. Verify flush fit and all screw torque after installation.
