Function

The rebound slide is driven rearward by the trigger during double-action operation and returns forward under spring pressure after the trigger is released, resetting the action. It also serves as the safety mechanism that prevents the hammer from reaching the firing pin unless the trigger is fully depressed. A worn or broken rebound slide can cause trigger return failures, light primer strikes, or unsafe conditions.
