Model Compatibility Chart
| Model | Caliber | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Model 10 | .38 Special | New style rebound slide; verify dash number before ordering |
This new style rebound slide is specific to later production Model 10 revolvers. Rebound slide geometry varies between old style and new style designs — they are not interchangeable. Verify your revolver’s dash number (stamped on the frame under the cylinder crane) before ordering. Also see Part #K101016B for the old style variant. Gunsmith fitting recommended.
Function
The rebound slide is driven rearward by the trigger during double-action operation and returns forward under spring pressure after the trigger is released, resetting the action for the next shot. It also serves as a passive safety — preventing the hammer from reaching the firing pin unless the trigger is fully depressed. A worn or broken rebound slide can cause trigger return failures, light primer strikes, or unsafe conditions.
Installation Note
Professional gunsmith installation required. Rebound slide replacement involves sideplate removal and action reassembly. Proper function and safety must be verified after installation.
