Genuine used Smith & Wesson OEM trigger for the Model 642 Airweight J Frame revolver chambered in .38 Special +P. This MIM (Metal Injection Molded) new-style trigger features a .310" wide trigger face and is designed specifically for use with the concealed (Centennial-style) hammer configuration of the Model 642. The trigger is the primary interface between the shooter and the firing mechanism — in double-action-only revolvers like the 642, each trigger pull cocks and releases the hammer in a single stroke. A worn, cracked, or out-of-spec trigger causes inconsistent pull weight, failure to reset, or failure to fire. This used OEM part is removed from a used firearm and in good working condition, manufactured to original S&W specifications and tolerances.

Finding Your Model Number
Swing out the cylinder and look behind the yoke on the frame. Model numbers were added starting in 1957–58. If your revolver has no model number stamped, it may be a pre-model variant — verify compatibility before ordering.

- This listing is for the trigger only. Trigger return spring, trigger pin, and all other action parts are sold separately.
- This trigger is specific to the Model 642 with concealed hammer (Centennial-style DAO). It is not interchangeable with exposed-hammer J Frame triggers (Models 36, 37, 60) or shrouded-hammer triggers (Model 638).
- This is a MIM (Metal Injection Molded) new-style trigger. Earlier Model 642 production may have used non-MIM (machined) triggers that are not interchangeable with MIM components.
- Used condition — some fitting by a qualified gunsmith may be necessary.
- Trigger replacement requires disassembly of the action. Gunsmith installation strongly recommended.
