Genuine Smith & Wesson OEM cylinder stop and spring set for the J Frame Model 642 Airweight revolver, chambered in .38 Special +P. Stainless steel construction. The cylinder stop (bolt) is the spring-loaded component that rises to engage the notches machined into the cylinder, locking it in precise alignment with the barrel at each chamber position. The spring provides the tension that drives the stop upward into the cylinder notch. This listing includes both the cylinder stop and the spring as a matched set. A worn or broken stop or spring causes the cylinder to fail to lock up properly, resulting in misalignment between the chamber and barrel — a safety-critical condition.
