Function

When you pull the trigger, the rebound slide moves forward to allow trigger travel. When you release it, the rebound spring pushes the slide back and resets the trigger. A worn rebound slide can cause a gritty pull, inconsistent reset, or trigger binding.

About the Model 637 Airweight

The Model 637 is a 5-shot J Frame carry revolver with an aluminum alloy frame that brings weight to about 15 ounces, roughly 6 ounces lighter than the steel-frame Model 60. It has an exposed hammer, so it shoots single or double action, and typically wears a 1 7/8 inch barrel.
