Genuine Smith & Wesson OEM cylinder stop and spring for the J Frame Model 38 Airweight revolver. The cylinder stop (also called the cylinder latch or bolt) is the spring-loaded component that engages the cylinder notches to lock the cylinder in alignment with the barrel at each chamber position. A worn or broken cylinder stop causes the cylinder to fail to lock up properly, resulting in misalignment between the chamber and barrel — a safety-critical condition that prevents the revolver from functioning reliably.
