Smith & Wesson J Frame Enclosed Hammer .38 Special / .357 Mag — Factory New OEM Part

Genuine factory new Smith & Wesson OEM enclosed (shrouded) hammer for J Frame revolvers chambered in .38 Special and .357 Magnum. The hammer is the pivoting component that is cocked by the trigger (DA) or manually (SA) and released to strike the firing pin, igniting the primer. The enclosed/shrouded design prevents the hammer spur from snagging on clothing or holster during a draw, making it the preferred choice for concealed carry revolvers. This is a direct OEM replacement in steel, unfinished, that restores proper hammer function to factory specification.

⚠️ Centerfire models only. This hammer is NOT compatible with rimfire J Frame models (34, 35, 43, 43C, 63, 317, 351C, 651) — those require a rimfire-specific hammer. See your model number before ordering.

  • This listing is for the hammer only. The hammer nose, rebound slide, mainspring, and all other action parts are sold separately.
  • Action disassembly is required for installation.
  • The hammer is a critical firing mechanism component. Professional gunsmith installation is strongly recommended.
  • Always function test after installation to confirm reliable ignition and safe operation before carrying or firing.
