The bolt (cylinder stop) assembly locks the cylinder in alignment with the barrel at the moment of firing, ensuring consistent accuracy and safe operation. A worn or broken bolt, spring, or plunger can cause the cylinder to rotate out of time, resulting in misfires or dangerous conditions. This used OEM assembly restores factory-correct cylinder lockup.
Installation Note: Disassembly and reassembly required. Some fitting by a qualified gunsmith may be necessary.
How to Identify Your S&W Model Number
Swing out the cylinder and check behind the yoke on the frame. Model numbers were introduced in 1957–58. If no model number is present, your revolver may pre-date that era — contact us with your serial number and we can help identify the correct part.
