Compatibility

This hand (also known as the cylinder pawl) is designed for the Smith & Wesson K Frame Model 65 revolver chambered in .357 Magnum. The hand is the part that rotates the cylinder with each trigger pull — a critical timing component. Because .357 Magnum and .38 Special K Frame revolvers share the same frame and most internal parts, this hand may also be compatible with other K Frame centerfire models. Verify old style vs. new style configuration before ordering. This part is not compatible with rimfire K Frame models (17, 18, 48, 617, 648, K22).

Finding Your Model Number

Swing out the cylinder and check behind the yoke on the frame for the model number. Model numbers began in 1957–58. If your revolver has no model number, contact us with your serial number and we can help identify the correct part.

Installation

Disassembly and reassembly of the revolver is required to replace this part. Installation by a qualified gunsmith is strongly recommended. Proper hand fitting is critical to cylinder timing and safe function. Factory replacement parts are manufactured to the exact same specifications, tolerances, and materials as the original.
