This is a factory original Smith & Wesson manual safety body plunger (also called the lever plunger) for TSW series Third Generation semi-automatic pistols. The safety body plunger provides the detent tension that holds the manual safety lever in its engaged and disengaged positions. A worn or missing plunger can cause the safety to feel loose or fail to positively lock in position.
