About the Victory Model
The Smith & Wesson Victory Model was produced during World War II for Allied military forces from 1942-1945. Based on the Military & Police (M&P) design that would later become the Model 10, the Victory Model was chambered in .38 Special and featured a parkerized finish for durability in combat conditions. Over 570,000 Victory Models were produced for the U.S. military, British Commonwealth forces, and other Allied nations. These revolvers are highly collectible today and represent an important piece of WWII history.
Extractor Function
The cylinder extractor (also called the ejector star or extractor star) is the star-shaped component at the rear of the cylinder that simultaneously extracts all fired cases. When you swing out the cylinder and push the extractor rod, the extractor moves rearward, pushing all cases out of the cylinder chambers. The extractor must fit precisely in the cylinder and engage all case rims properly for reliable extraction.
Function & Compatibility
This extractor features right hand thread, meaning it threads onto the extractor rod by turning clockwise. The one-hole configuration refers to the mounting hole pattern. Proper extractor function is essential for reliable operation - a worn or damaged extractor can cause extraction failures, leaving spent cases stuck in the cylinder.
This extractor is specifically designed for Smith & Wesson K Frame M&P Victory Model WWII revolvers chambered in .38 Special. It may also fit other K Frame .38 models from the same era - contact us to verify compatibility for your specific revolver.
How to Identify Your S&W Model
To determine your Smith & Wesson revolver model number, swing out the cylinder and check behind the yoke on the frame for the model number stamped into the metal. Model numbers began in 1957-58. If there's no model number, your revolver is a pre-1957 model such as the Victory Model or M&P. Contact us with your serial number for assistance in identifying the correct parts.
